I am piecing together a system that consists of a squeezebox touch, a mini dsp 8x8 for eq and multie sub eq. I am going to build a dac(not sure whick one yet) that has balanced xlr's out. what I am trying to decide is if a diy pre amp would prove sound quality. If so, where in that chain would it go? I can go digital connections on the squeezebox and mini dsp. I am really only concerned about the sound quality of two of the four channels I will need to output from the minidsp, as the other two are subwoofers. All amp inputs (4) are balanced xlr. Just need to know where to start to put this together. The alternative to a pre amp is using the volume control on the mini dsp. Thanks alot!
