Beginner looking for inexpensive chip amp kit.

Hi,
first post here, hopefully I've found the correct section to post under (If not please feel free to move it)

I have read that once you start fiddling with audio gear it can lead to wanting more and more, well I think that has now happened.

A bit of back story - I recently decided to go for a cheap headphone amp for my pc, ended up with a Pro-Signal branded BT928, having completed the standard mods. I have decided I want to turn my hand to trying to build a kit amp for my 10 year old speakers, they came with an LG midi CD player, which probably aren't the greatest, but they work.

Unfortunately I don't have loads of funds at the moment, and my skill set is still quite low, so I'm looking for something relatively inexpensive to use. I've looked around and found cheap chip amps, but, the price and complexity seem to increase quite a lot when it comes to the PSU.

So, I was wondering if there were any cheap stereo kits, which could run off a wallwart. I know from recent reading it's not the best solution. It would primarily be used with my PC but may be connected to my phone or ipod at times.

I'm going to set my upper limit at around £50, but cheaper would be preferred. Also as I'm new to this sort of thing a simpler design would be nice. Depending how this turns out I may invest in some better speakers in the future.

I hope I have given enough information about what I'm trying to accomplish.

Thanks for any help

Brads
