I recentely purcased a mtx audio tna 251 250w rms 2 ohm amp to replace my ddx320 whose bass channel power chip blew up running a 160w 3ohm sony sub.
So before finding out i could clean up the solder joints, and re-use the ddx as a stereo only amp, i bought a sure AA-AB33184 off ebay, and 2 more ar215 ps's (@ $60 shipped for mint ar215's i couldn't resist :D).
My question is, how should i power these 4 215 ps's?
I got a ple520p pre-amp with a sub out, and a muse dac, but i'm debating whether or not i should bridge the two stereo channel outputs on the sure amp w/ 2 or the ar215's, for a 2x200w setup to get a better THD value, and use the ddx320 for the other two ar215's;
or if i should just leave the ddx out of the equation, and run the 4 ar215's of the sure board, with a 36v 350w smps, with 4 parallel wired 2200uf 50v filter caps for the dc in to the board?
My gut, and what i've read about the sure board tells me i should bridge the 4 channels into two and use the ddx, but i thought i'd ask here and see what others thought about the setup.
I'm very happy with my ar215's, and the first two i got for free really blew me away with their sound quality, so i figured at the price two more wouldn't be a bad decision.
The sony amp, and the mtx tna251 i'm very happy with as well, after some initial testing. And from what i heard, the pyle pre-amp i got was a good buy for the price as well.
TLDR version-
Should i use a stereo only ddx320 and a 2 channel bridged setup for a AA-AB33184 sure 4 channel d class amp, or just the sure in a 4 channel setup to power my ar215ps's for simplicity's sake?
My ddx320 was awesome before it blew, and its reparable most likely, i just need to clean up the board where the bass chip blew (only failure on the board afaik).
But i know i'd probably have to buy another ps to run two stereo amps, as i've heard running two amps off the same smps is a bad idea, and a 350w smps might be a bit too small for 4 ar215 ps's.
