Been trying to work out how to improve bass response from dual mid woofers when used in a bass reflex cabinet with a simple 2-way xo.
Playing through ideas in my head I thought maybe it would be possible to place each woofer in its own compartment and deliberately tune them 'badly' (larger than usual resonant spike at tuning freq from larger cabinet volume) then tune each to different frequencies so that they effectively 'crossover'.
The net anticipated result would be a flat(ish) response, from winISD modelling I've tried with a tang band mid woofer i could get the response down to about 43Hz instead of 65 (f3) which seems much more usefull... is this a well known idea or am I missing something that prevents it being practical? obviously response dips down to 100hz by about 3db, but I think i could live with that for the improved low end response...
