I've been around audio for years, but brand new to DIY and quite ignorant on the details of how the electricity starts at the wall socket and is turned into power to make the drivers move, so please bear with me.
For my first DIY project, I would like to build a pair of smallish speakers to use in my soon to be constructed woodworking shop above my garage. Hopefully, there's an existing plan that someone can point me to so that I can get started. There are so many threads on here that I'm a bit overwhelmed at this point!
After the speakers are done, I would like to move on to a low powered tube amp, so efficiency will be a priority. The next most important things will be size and cost. Beyond that, I'm wide open and do realize that there will be compromises that i have to make.
Here's what I'm looking for:
Thanks in advance for any help with this.

Here's what I'm looking for:
- 93 dB or greater efficiency
- Bookshelf-ish size - preferably a baffle no larger than 12" X 24"
- Low cost - Less than $250 for drivers & components
- Dome tweeter - I've never been a fan of horns, but my experience with them is limited and it might be that I just haven't heard the right one. Mainly I want to avoid a 'boxy' sound.
- In-room response of down to 70hz or lower.
Thanks in advance for any help with this.
