Hi I'm interested in building a footswitchable bypass loop that's XLR based. The idea is this mic in - mic out, send and return in the loop that can be bypassed with the footswitch. I'd like to run a separate mic pre-amp in the loop so I can distort vocals live and be able to easily bring it in and out of the chain because I don't want to distort vocals all the time just for a specific part. I found using a separate pre is better then a distortion pedal because you can control the output much better and prevent feedback. I would like to put in an LED just to see when the switch is activated.
I'm assuming I'll need a 4PDT switch (this is where my confusion starts). Also do I need a resistor to help reduce any popping sound when switching?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm a bit of a newbee when it comes to this.:D
