Running a tablet directly to my amplifier(s) via 3.5mm jack will save me over a thousand dollars.
I know it can be done, but what are the drawbacks?
Let's exclude the pretty lights, 30 some ought' bands of EQ, etc... & just focus on the signal itself. Why would the output signal from an aftmarket head unit be superior to that of the output from my tablet?
How can it be superior? Higher voltage? Most amplifiers have a Gain setting of let's say 2V to 8V. If my source is at least putting out 2V, why would a higher voltage from the source matter?
Do aftermarket head units "clean up" the signal? If so, please explain how. -I have no idea how my brother's Alpine head unit "knows" what the signal of "Billy Jean" is supposed to look like. Wouldn't it need some kind of reference?
Background,
Subaru decided to put the HVAC controls on the same board as the radio, so when you purchase a dash kit, you get new HVAC controls as well. This explains the $450 price tag, & I'm not including shipping from Japan (I live in the states).
My vehicle is already wired up (no ms8, bitone, etc). It's either direct to the tablet or drop $1k on a dash kit + aftermarket h/u
I know there are other options -cubby, glove compartment, etc... but I need to focus on school & don't have the time or tools to tackle a dash revamp.
I replaced the front speakers in my vehicle. I prefer to listen to my music in stereo. Won't be any rear fill here. I'll use a single subwoofer.
So,
Grab a stereo jack, some stereo jack to RCA Y splitters, & go nuts? I can filter on my amplifiers
