Wanted...good motor from reel to reel TR - EU only

$

0
I am making a belt drive TT and require a decent motor - 230-240 Volt AC - but can build a dedicated PS if other voltage. A MICHELL GYRODECK motor would be perfect! Otherwise a Capstan motor from a semi/pro r to r tape deck.

Please respond by PM with your email address and the dimensions of the motor.

[IF you are interested in mint, unused, Power Amp PCBs I have a good selection.
e.g. all of the Symasym German boards from past 6 years or so. Perhaps we can find a trade/part trade?]

Thanks for looking.:)

Selecting a high quality 6 inch midrange unit for my full range project

I am looking for a medium to high sensitivity midrange for a full range system.

Looking at drivers around 93 -96 dB/w

The crossover points will be between 250Hz to about 2700Hz; third order electrical filters will be used.

Initially it will use passive filters and later it will be activated.

A reasonable degree of accuracy is required, but dynamic excitement to this project is key.

The project will be for high quality domestic audio, NOT PA!!

The units I am looking at as a starting point is the Faital Pro 6PR160 midrange and 6RS140 low midrange.

I have been investigating using full range units like the Seas FA22RCZ and the X1-08 Exotic F8 as well as they make great dynamic midrange units.

Basic Transformer Question - Polarity of Windings in CT Transformers?

$

Very basic question...
In a center-tapped transformer secondary, what is the polarity of its secondary windings? Is the center tap at the - end of the top winding and the + end of the bottom winding? (As in the drawing attached?)

I'm thinking I can use a 6-0-6V 1.2A secondary as a single 12V 0.6A secondary.

I don't know why, but I can't seem to understand the ins and outs of some of the basic functions of transformers. It's like a dead spot in my brain...

My goal is to get about 15VDC from a 6-0-6V secondary. The question is whether it would be better to go with half-wave rectification of a 12VAC secondary into an LM317 regulator to get 12VDC, or use a voltage-doubler on the 6VCT secondary (and then to the LM317 for 12VDC).

A stand alone motor and pulley
A platter to be run on the outside

I hope to make my own
Motor housing again I’m new to this but switch gear or transformer required

Hi all,

I brought a 2nd-hand TU-8600 a few months ago. It has a pair of Psavne 300Bs and Golden lion pre-amp tubes. It sounded very sweet. Recently, its sound degrades after it is turned on for a few minutes. It becomes muddy:(. Do you guys have any idea what happens? Thanks in advance.

(extremely) Noob question about power transformer

I'm studying some simple tube amps and specifically the P1-eX from ax84. The schematic shows a B+ of 388V but uses a power transformer with a 275-0-275 secondary and a two diode full wave rectifier. My understanding is that in order to have a B+ of 388V right after the rectifier, you would need to have a 388-0-388 secondary. Am I getting something wrong? Sorry if this is an extremely beginner question.

Here's the schematic:

I have a amp that is protecting on any speaker load, 4, 2, but will not protect on a 1ohm dummy load. input current is low on all speaker loads. typically under 6amps. But on dummy load i can max out my bench supply at 10amps. Input signal is tone at 60hz and scoping the speaker output is always perfect sign wave, no clipping. I first thought that it was overcurrent or DC offset on the power supply. Pos rail is 58v and neg rail is -58. i also bypassed the over current shunts just to see if that was the case, nope. So i tested again to see which pin on the 494 was going high and it was pin 1. So i am open to what circuit is on pin one

I have a BTR Portable 48V 10Ah Battery Pack that will power Nobsound TAS5630 2.1 Channel Class D Amplifier Board. My understanding is that I will need to feed the amplifier with 48V and 10-15Amps in order to get the most out of my speakers. I am trying to find a ON / OFF switch and I believe the switch itself should be rated for 48V and 10-15Amps, but I cannot find one. Any thoughts?:o

Has Anyone Used Central Transistors?

I seems like all the quality transistors of old (Toshiba, Motorola, RCA, etc.) have gone the way of the Dodo. Has anyone used Central Transistors in their projects?

My PA system needs a sub

$

But I'm unsure how powerful to go on it. I have all powered Behringer stuff (2 15s at 400 watts each, 2 12s at 400 watts each). Purpose is rock band amplification for live setting.

I'm sure I want to go with a Behringer powered sub, and I think I want to go with an 18 for depth, but I don't know how powerful to go. There are 500 watt, 1400 watt, and 3000 watt varieties I am seeing.

I have read that you want the sub to be on par or slightly more powerful than the rest of your system. That would lead me to think that the 1400 watt would be a good choice because that would be slightly more powerful than the rest (1400 > 400 x 4).

Any advice?

I broke my own rule again.

After buying a few electronic components off ebay and from China I found I was having very poor quality and results. So I decided not to buy any more from those sources.

I was looking for some 74HC4051's for a project and couldn't get any at the usual sources. So I reluctantly bought some off ebay. When they came I was surprised to find the they were CD4051's and not 74HC4051's and were 6 times slower according to datasheet. I settled on a partial refund.
So I looked again on ebay and found a different seller.
The items came and once again CD4051's !
This time I got a full refund.

I had another project where the CD4051's were fast enough so tried them in there. A few worked ok. Then I found one pcb where it didn't work correctly and it came down to a faulty CD4051.

I then thought that I couldn't go wrong with decoupling capacitors. So, bought in some 5mm pitch caps. They sent 7.5mm caps ! So when I got pcb reworked I changed it to 7.5mm. I then ran out caps so ordered some more 7.5mm caps. They sent 10mm caps !
I managed to get a refund on the 10mm caps.

Decisions... decisions...

So I happen to have a pair of Markaudio Alpair 10.3s loafing about. I have two sheets of 19mm BB ply in the garage. Spare hardware lurks in my parts bins. And I have the itch to build.

I threw together a pair of FHXLs two or so years ago and love them - but I want to try something different. I've been reviewing the specs on the various models offered by Woden Designs and was wondering what differences I can reasonably expect to hear between them. For instance, the Poplar looks attractive because it's relatively compact and has decent bass extension, but what would I be giving up by building that instead of, say the Silbury or Avebury? And what would any of those those do that the FHXL can't?

Then there are the other designs like the Metronome I'm considering (there's at least one forum member who built a pair using this driver). Build complexity isn't an issue here, I'm just curious about the differences between their acoustical characteristics and design philosophies.

Thanks! :)

Looking for some dimensions on a pal-nut that fits a standard potentiometer. I believe the threads would be 3/8" x 32. Picture attached. What I need is the *internal* flat to flat distance. [would be the outside flat to flat - 2x material thickness].

I'm trying to understand and implent this RIAA pre amp.Click the image to open in full size.

So, I decided to simulate it. Knowing a MM cartridge gives out about 5mV at 1Khz, what voltage level should I consider, during the simulation process, at 20Hz, 50Hz, 500Hz, 2.1KHz and 20Khz?
